When natural disasters strike remote areas, the challenge of geography can often delay life-saving aid. Recently, the east bank of the Sittaung River in Taungoo Township faced devastating flooding, leaving thousands of families isolated and in desperate need of essentials.
In response to this crisis, HAGL Myanmar’s social welfare program, “We Care, We Share,” mobilized a massive relief operation to reach villages that are notoriously difficult to access, ensuring that no one was left behind in the rising waters.

A Massive Collective Effort
What began as a commitment from HAGL Myanmar quickly grew into a powerful community-wide movement. While HAGL Myanmar pledged 25,000,000 MMK for swift relief, the total donation pool surged to 44,900,600 MMK thanks to the enthusiastic participation of:
• Business partners within the Myanmar Center Office Tower.
• Retailers and tenants from Myanmar Plaza.
• Dedicated colleagues and staff at HAGL Myanmar.
Critical Aid for 2,000 Households
The floods severely impacted six key villages: Pade, Kampa Ni, A Shae Sin, Thel Taw, Inn Win, and Naung Bo. Our team coordinated the distribution of emergency supplies to 700 households with the most urgent needs, focusing on survival, hygiene, and light.
The relief packages included:
• Sustenance: Rice, cooking oil, clean drinking water, and food parcels.
• Shelter & Protection: Blankets, mosquito nets, and shoes.
• Hygiene: Detergent powder and cleaning supplies.
• Cooking Essentials: 150 sets of pots, pans, and plates to replace those lost in the flood.
Addressing the Power Crisis
With the region suffering from total power outages, the “We Care, We Share” team prioritized emergency lighting and communication tools to ensure safety after dark:
• 150 Rechargeable Solar Lamps
• 100 Packs of candles
• 11 High-capacity Power Banks (donated by Kanote – X)

Empowering Local Rescuers
To ensure the sustainability of the rescue efforts, we recognized the vital role of first responders. A donation of 2,500,000 MMK was presented to the Myanmar Rescue Organization (Bago Division, Kaytumati, Taungoo City). These funds are dedicated to:
1. Procuring emergency rice and oil for their food centers.
2. Refueling the organization’s rescue vehicles and boats, which are essential for navigating the difficult river terrain.
